Sorry, I just like having an excuse to say that...
Last week, I spent most of my free time doing last-minute prep for the shower and getting some wedding stuff done. I was so anxious about everything that I barely slept. Friday night, we had a cupcake and cookie-baking get-together at Kristin's house, complete with fishing egg yolks out of batter, getting sprinkles everywhere, and writing "Eat me" on about 2958345 cookies. I got home late at night and still had to make sangria and baked ziti (which tasted EFFING DELICIOUS. Don't be so shocked). I couldn't even get to sleep when I was done.
Yesterday morning, I woke up at like 5:45am, which isn't unusual for me, but I was SO. TIRED. I read a book until 8am, when I hopped out of bed and went straight to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of sangria. Yes, I drank sangria before I went to the bathroom, showered, brushed my teeth... don't judge. Don't act like you wouldn't have done the same thing.
ANYWAY, after hours of getting things together and reviewing every single last-minute detail, Eric and I headed over to pick up the pizza order. Which they did incorrectly and there wasn't enough time to fix it before we had to get over to Kristin's. If that's the only thing that went wrong the whole day, then we did a pretty damn good job. Perfect decorations, games went smoothly, and there was PLENTY of food for everyone.
I don't think people realize how difficult it is to throw a party like this. I know I didn't before now. If I didn't have the help of Kristin and Ben's moms and the other girls, I don't know what I would have done. We all worked really hard to pull things together, and I think Kristin and Ben had a good time. Especially Ben. We made him and the guys chug cheap beer out of baby bottles, and he won. What a good sport! Gotta keep the guys entertained at a co-ed shower, you know...
I'm also grateful for Eric, who made the invitations and designed the signs and tags for the party. That made things a million times easier for me and really made the place look perfect. The small details are what bring things like this together. He took a few snazzy photos, too. The perks of living with an artist ;)
Here's a peek at the day:

WE'RE ALL MAD HERE... and we wouldn't have it any other way |
Now it is time to book a honeymoon, design invitations, and figure out our wedding ceremony. 2014 is the Year of Planning! I'm going to feel empty and useless come mid-September. Maybe I'll just go to Guanabanas and drink cocktails by the water every day from then on...
